The St. Philip’s Academy Media Center provides a welcoming environment and a wealth of resources to support the curriculum and encourage students to read for both knowledge and pleasure.

Our collection of over 12,500 titles, accessible though our online catalog,  includes picture books, easy readers, fiction, non-fiction, reference books, magazines, a young adult collection, an EcoSPACES collection, a professional collection, an audio visual collection, and our Picturing America collection

In addition, we have subscriptions to Discovery Education Streaming Video, the Newark Museum Educational Loan Collection and the Accelerated Reader Renaissance Learning testing site. Students take part in the Star Ledger Newspapers in Education Program, and make use of the JerseyClicks collection of research databases.

Kindergarten through Fourth Grade meet once a week with Mrs. Buell, our lower school librarian, who shares stories with the children and introduces library skills. Fifth through Eighth grade meet once a week with Sr. Elizabeth Tombler for classes focusing on enrichment reading and research skills. Library classes aim to inspire enthusiasm for literature and equip students with the skills to become effective, responsible users of information, and life-long learners

The Media Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00-4:00 and on Friday from 9:00- 12:00.
