Parents who wish to have their child considered for admittance to St. Philip's Academy must first submit their completed application materials along with an application-processing fee of $35.

All applicants are given placement testing. Please note there is a fee for this individual assessment, though a limited number of fee waivers are available. Prospective students and their families should also expect an interview and class visit.

All Kindergarten applicants attend a Kindergarten Simulation as part of our admissions process. Once your child’s application is submitted, you will be contacted to schedule their Kindergarten Simulation. Our Kindergarten Simulations are only held on Wednesday’s. A student’s visit to the school represents an important part of the assessment process. Your child will participate in a full day of Kindergarten activities and they will also be given their Screening Test. During the visit, he or she will be observed to ascertain readiness in various cognitive, social, emotional and physical domains for our kindergarten program.

All other applicants are scheduled for day visits at their current grade level. The visit provides a more in depth opportunity to learn about St. Philip’s Academy. You will be contacted to schedule your child’s visit as soon as your application has been submitted. We strongly encourage parents to attend an Admissions Open House. These events provide a special opportunity for prospective parents to tour the St. Philip’s Academy grounds and learn about our program.

For further information and to talk specifically about the ways in which St. Philip’s might benefit your child, all prospective parents that have submitted an application for will be contacted to schedule a Parent Interview. The Parent Interview normally takes place on the morning of your child’s day visit. We look forward to this chance to talk with you about your child and learn about your hopes and dreams for them. A transcript from the child's current school will be required as part of the admission process.

On the basis of the personal interview, test scores, teacher recommendations and school record, the Admissions Committee will make a decision on the student's candidacy. Note that the decision of the Committee is final.

Notification of acceptance will be done through a written communication from the Office of Admissions. When a grade level is filled, potential students will be placed in a wait pool for consideration, if vacancies occur.

St. Philip’s Academy does not have an application deadline, which means that we enroll students on a rolling basis. However, we encourage parents to begin the admissions process between the months of September and May. It is difficult and sometimes impossible for us to receive Recommendation Forms and Transcript Requests from other schools during the summer months. These items are a vital part of an applicant’s file and we will be unable to review a file if it is incomplete. If you apply within the time frame mentioned above, your child will have a greater chance of being admitted into St. Philip’s Academy.

For more information about enrollment, please contact the Office of Admission at (973) 624-0644 ext. 115 or stodman@stphilipsacademy.org.
